9.00 am Margaret Tomko - Asthma Workshop
|
"Asthma affects millions of people around the world and the numbers of people afflicated with this difficulty are growing every year. Discussed in this presentation will be the causes, side effects and treatment of this condition. Some DVD excerpts will be shown. Suitable inductions and therapy for both adult and children will be presented. Included will be an interactive workshop. The aim of this workshop is that participants use creative skills to formulate appropriate questionaires, inductions and therapy based on the information given and their own individual knowledge and skills in working with asthmatics." Margaret Tomko, Past President and Founder and Fellow of the PCHA Inc. is a Psychologist and a practising hypnotherapist for over 30 years. She studied with the legendary Gil Boyne (recently deceased) and was instrumental in planning and organising his visits to Australia on four separate occasions. This enabled hypnotherapy to advance beyond standard visualisation and scripts and to acknowledge and learn the benefits of instantaneous inductions and Transforming Therapy, previously unknown in Australia and which now have become everyday usage by most hypnotherapists within this country.. Training schools here are also now including these methods within their curriculum. Margaret has a full time practise in Bondi Junction - she is also well known for her work with Forensic Hypnosis. |

1.30pm Barry Shirley - Exploring the connection between addictions and anxiety.
Using a combination of some of his actual case studies and material from noted authors, Barry will present an overview of the damage that can result when a client is in an anxious state. He will look at the five main addictions of alcohol abuse, gambling, smoking, drug abuse, and weight control in particular. Hypnosis can be an integral tool in addressing and relieving anxiety states which in turn can help to eliminate addictions. Hypnosis strategies and techniques will be discussed in this session.
Barry’s background covers an extensive career in business (particularly sales and marketing). He has started and run his own businesses and was more recently the general manager of an international company. Following a successful hypnotherapy session nearly forty years ago, he developed a keen interest in hypnosis. He has a certificate and a diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy, a diploma in Counselling and a Diploma of Remedial Massage. He is a professional member of the ASCH, AHA and ATMS. He was until recently a board member of the ASCH. He has been in full time practice at West Ryde NSW for seven years.
2.30pm Elizabeth Bullock – Letting Go of Weight.
Elizabeth has been in practice for over 28 years, and grew up with hypnotherapy, the daughter of the famous Les Bullock who practiced from their home where Elizabeth grew up from the age of 9 years old.She has tried all sorts of techniques combined with her hypnotherapy to help people lose weight over the years, from diets to no diet at all. Until she came up with a combination of suggestions and ideas which work without a diet at all. It is really just getting people to look at food from a different angle and see it for what it is meant to be ie: Fuel for your body.
Clients are motivated, aware, and in control of their eating without the stress that diets and trying to lose weight creates.

9.00am Dr. Amanda Sainsbury-Salis - “Helping your clients to lose weight sustainably”,
As a weight loss scientist, at the Garvin Institute I'm excited to share two areas of cutting edge science that will make it easier for you to lose weight and keep it off. If you've ever tried to lose weight, you'll know the Famine Reaction. You've lost a few kilos, you're feeling good, you're doing all the right things…when you suddenly stop losing weight and you start feeling really hungry. That's your Famine Reaction, a survival mechanism that protects you from wasting away.
As a scientist with over 17 years of medical research experience, it's now clear that the conventional approach exacerbates the Famine Reaction and makes it even harder to lose weight. The exciting news from medical research is that you can switch off the Famine Reaction and lose weight more effectively. The other ground breaking scientific concept I want to share with you is your Fat Brake and how to use it to keep the weight off. Just as your body has a Famine Reaction to protect you from losing weight, it also has a Fat Brake that protects you from gaining weight. When you know how to tame your Famine Reaction and boost your Fat Brake, you can lose weight and keep it off with less effort than ever before.
Amanda will tell her story of having lost 28 kilo and having kept it off for 9 years.
